Description
Cimos made its entry into the automotive sector in the late 1950s. In the 1970s the foreign partner and the Slovenian companies joined forces in a new company called Cimos. From a manufacturer of scooters to assembling of cars Cimos has developed into an organization, which activities are spread throughout the field of automotive industry, agricultural field, energy field and machine-building field. Automotive programme represents the major share of sale. Cimos d. d. is the holding company of the Cimos Group, with its headquarters and app. 1000 people in Koper, and about 7000 people in the Cimos Group. Strategic functions of the automotive field are managed in Cimos d.d. The automotive programme features a broad spectrum of products. Until 2005 at Cimos we were developing and marketing products from four product families classified according to their function: - engine parts, - parts of the breaking system, - parts of the transmission system and - body parts. In 2006, Cimos embarked on new projects to engineer innovative solutions for brake disks and drums. In addition, Cimos launched the fifth family of products, components for the chassis (frame). It is a new market segment with a huge potential. Research and Development The backbone products are constantly subject of research and development activities in terms of the product function and design. Cimos has the skills and knowledge required for develop products from the concept phase to the final product definition. Our activities are oriented towards the actual demand of the market and towards middle- and long-term projects. As regards corporate research and development, Cimos has in place an ample and efficient infrastructure that enables the Company to embark on complex industrial R & D projects. The research department is a catalyst and a driving power of the research processes at Cimos, and a hotbed for generating new ideas. Intelligence to spot opportunities by launching new products and technologies gives a cutting edge to the best companies of the class. In addition to technical capacities that include state-of-the-art information equipment, laboratories and the prototype workshop, Cimos fosters and encourages the ever-increasing collaboration with business partners and consumers. To stimulate a cross-fertilisation of ideas and expertise between the private and public sectors, Cimos maintains links with the academic circles and research institutes, as well as other entities that disseminate knowledge and information regarding regulatory provisions in relevant areas. Intellectual capital The results achieved by the Cimos Group can largely be attributed to the investments in: - the development of human resources, - occupational education and training of the employees, management training, - development and research activity and - encouraging creativity. Investments in knowledge and skills of the employees also include personal and occupational development of the employees. We earn our "bread-and-butter" in a highly competitive industry sector where only knowledge and innovation, collaboration with universities and institutions, as well as creative and dedicated employees, can give a cutting edge.
