Abstract
Integration and disintegration processes in plural modern societies have gotten their specific ethnic dimension and nature both at the level of the nation-state and at the international/supranational level. The regulation and management of (inter)ethnic relations are important ingredients of mechanisms, procedures and measures for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts of different intensities that exist in every plural society. At least minimal ethnic pluralism exists in all modern societies; their ethnic structure is dynamic and subject to constant changes conditioned with increasing internal and international migration. This longitudinal study will result in: (i) development of theory: principles, concepts and theoretical models of (ethnic) integration of plural societies at the national and international level, ethnic coexistence, cooperation and multiculturalism in democratic societies; development of the management and resolution of conflicts in Slovenia; etc. (ii) policy implementation: concepts and proposals for the creation of ethnic policy; development of constitutional/legal and political system and public institutions, etc.; development of mechanisms, channels and procedures for the political participation and protection of distinct communities; etc. (iii) applications: development of measures, technics, methods, models and procedures for the prevention, management and resolution of conflicts; development of education and socialization in plural societies based on coexistence and cooperation; educational and informative programs for mass-media; etc. This study will include a student''s project on the management and resolution of ethnic conflicts; it will enable also different applicative research projects in this field.
