Abstract
In the study “An attempt to improve the treatment of malignant tumours, to moderate sequels of treatment and the study of some prognostic factors” we will try to improve the treatment results in some head and neck tumours, and in brain tumours with hyperfractionated irradiation. At the same time our wish is to reduce side effects of the irradiation treatment. We would like also to improve the irradiation technique of some malignant and nonmalignant brain lesions by introducing stereotactic radiosurgery. Using microwave hyperthermia in conjuction with irradiation, we hope to improve the results of irradiation treatment of some advanced, previously untreated or recurrent tumours. In the prolongation of the study we would like to improve the heating system in such a way that more customization of the heating regarding the size or depth of the tumour would be possible. In the continuation of the study of prognostic value of the tumour and serum concentration of the cathepsins B, D, H, L and their inhibitors stefins A and B, we would like to incorporate the plasminogen activator and its inhibitor as well as cystatin C.
