Abstract
The aim of the project is to improve the quality of work in primary health care, because the decisions made by health professionals on that level greatly influence the entire health care system. The project will enable us to develop the instruments for quality improvement in primary health care, which is specific. There are big possibilities for quality assessment in Slovenia, and they are different from the ones used by clinical specialities. General practitioners would get standards of treatment, the patients would benefit from better quality of services and the assessors would get adequate methodologies for quality control. The ministry of health will be one of the main users of the developed methodologies, the analysis of quality will also be the basis for educational programmes on undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
