Abstract
Two main goals are followed in the project. The first goal is development of the information szstem in pigs with main emphasis on development of software for breeders and regional extension services. Program package will contain tools for data input and logical control, for frequent queries from local databases, data transfer, tool kits for running different applications from central database and dissimination of information. Prototzpe szstems on familz farms, industrial units, and extensional services will be tested and connected to the central database. The szstem developed in pigs maz be used as a model in other species.
In the second part, applicative studies on the field of prediction of breeding values in cattle, small ruminants and pigs. Carcass (meatness) and fertilitz traits will be studied in order to include them into agregate genotzpe for pigs. Furthermore, research will be extended to genotzpe-environment interaction. In cattle and small ruminants, we will continue studies of methods using test-daz records and applicabilitz of random regression models. Moreover, different grading scales and statistical models for secondarz traits (exterier, lifetime production) will be examined and implemented for evaluation of breeding animals.
