Abstract
.) Study of the Cold-cathode Ionisation Gauge in Ultrahigh Vacuum The cold-cathode ionisation gauges with Penning geometry were thoroughly studied in our previous research work. Modern cold-cathode ionisation gauges used at ultrahigh vacuum measurements are designed in the magnetron and inverted-magnetron geometry, respectively. Determination as well as study of different magnetron based gauge properties will be the main focus of the proposed project. The results will be used to develop a new cold cathode ionisation gauge prototype. II.) Study of detachable metallic ultra high vacuum joints The basic principles and properties of sealing mechanisms at ultra high vacuum joints with metal plastic deformation will be studied. The following three different joint types will be compared: a)joins with two parallel plates and with inserted gasket; b) joints formed of metal tube pressed on metal base; c) metal tubes after pinch-off. Basic demands for UHV joints (cleaning, degassing, surface) will be analysed. The degassing rate will be checked and monitored during the joining process. After the joint establishment the leak rate, behaviour under different temperatures and pressures, degassing, stiffness and deformation of joining elements will be studied. III.)Outgassing properties of the materials under high vacuum conditions and study of Au, Pt, Ag and NiCr deposition High vacuum outgassing of polymer and metal electronic materials with low outgassing rates for electronic components will be studied. Porous metal layers formed by different deposition techniques of Au, Pt, Ag and NiCr alloys in high vacuum will also be studied.
