Abstract
The project aims to provide the theoretical foundations for understanding racism and xenophobia within the post-socialist context. This will enable us to evaluate the current situation regarding the recent post-socialist historic developments and to consider the development of the recent studies on racism and xenophobia elsewhere. We will analyze the specific forms of appearance, different practices and discourses of racism in the post-socialist environment. Special attention will be paid to the empirical situation within our narrow research surrounding: we will collect, document and analyze the blatant cases of racism and xenophobia in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria and Hungary. The result of the project will be a basic study on xenophobia and racism from the perspective of the newest theoretical approaches. It will also include the analysis of the perspectives and possibilities of anti-racist engagement within the post-socialist context.
