Abstract
Coping with the covid-19 epidemic required a set of nonpharmacological and public health measures that affected virtually all segments of society. Their effectiveness depends on several factors, not only on what kind of measures were accepted, but also when they were accepted and how consistently they were implemented. Data on the number of infections and deaths show, that Slovenia did not cope well with the second (and third) wave of the epidemic. The key objectives of this project are to analyze the existing measures for dealing with the covid-19 epidemic and assess their effectiveness. On this basis the project will develop the starting points and recommendations to ensure better preparedness of Slovenia to deal with the future epidemics of infectious diseases. The proposed project is set interdisciplinary and addresses the topic comprehensively and in depth with an emphasis on international comparison and developments in the neighborhood. Attention is also given to cooperation between key actors - especially between the (health) experts and politics, as well as with other interested and competent social actors.
