Abstract
The psychosocial coronary proneness plays an important role in predicting ischaemic heart disease (IHD) morbidity and mortality, even after taking into account the main IHD risk factors. The main objective of our study is to research simultaneously involvement of both psychosocial and biological risk factors in incidence of and mortality from IHD. In order to obtain this objective we aim to examine the relationships between standard biological and psychosocial risk factors at baseline and presence or absence of IHD after 7 years of follow-up on 187 male subjects. In the other group of 187 IHD patients, the relationships between the same risk factors at baseline and death from a cardiac cause or a non-cardiac cause in last 7 years will be investigated. Results of our investigation will be used to merge both medical and psychological, primary and secondary preventive programme in the so called psychocoronary club. The effectiveness of this programme will be tested by comparing users and those on the waiting list according to the case-control model.
