Abstract
he Research Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Transhistorical Deliberative Democracy (CHANGECODE) is an international COST Action research network dedicated to the systematisation, conceptualisation, and epistemic advancement of theoretical and empirical knowledge regarding the influence of historical deliberative practices on contemporary decision-making processes. The project explores the relationships between past, present, and future forms of deliberation through the perspectives of historical practices, culture, cognition, narratives of legitimacy, and the objectives of deliberative democracy.
CHANGECODE develops an original research framework of transhistorical deliberative democracy and establishes an interdisciplinary international platform connecting researchers, stakeholders, and decision-makers. The project promotes the development of new research approaches, methodologies, guidelines, and toolkits for public policy design while strengthening the inclusion of young researchers in international interdisciplinary research environments.
Significance for science
The CHANGECODE project contributes to the advancement of interdisciplinary research in the fields of deliberative democracy, political participation, the history of decision-making, sociology, humanities, and political theory. The project develops the innovative concept of transhistorical deliberative democracy and connects historical, social science, and humanities approaches to the study of decision-making processes and social dialogue. An important contribution of the project is the establishment of an international research network, the development of new methodological approaches, and the inclusion of young researchers in interdisciplinary and international research environments.
Significance for the country
The CHANGECODE project strengthens the international integration of Slovenian research in the fields of social sciences and humanities and increases the visibility of Slovenian researchers within European research networks. The project contributes to the development of new approaches to inclusive decision-making, social dialogue, and public policy design while promoting cooperation between research organisations, decision-makers, and society. An important aspect of the project is also the support for young researchers and the strengthening of international interdisciplinary collaboration.
