Abstract
Research program 206-502 contains mostly research undertaken to investigate the relationship between microstructure and properties for the given metallic materials. The research also includes information about the applicability of these materials and the manufactured components as well as details regarding the residual life of components under in-service conditions. On the one hand, this research program includes development of the constitutive equations of the metallic materials and their behaviour as well as research into micromechanisms of degradation and fracture. Research work incorporate different activities like microfractography, microstructure investigation, testing of mechanical characteristics, fracture mechanics, creep, fatigue and corrosion measurements. On the other hand the research work also looks into the stress and strain states in service exposed components. Together with the development of non-destructive testing methodology, this research offers a basis for deterministic estimation of residual life of metallic components under in-service conditions.
