Abstract
The aim of the study is to establish the efficacy of the loop diathermy conization of the uterine cervix compared to the cold knife conization with sutures. We wonder if the method is equal or even more radical in the completeness of neoplastic process removal than the classical treatment procedure, has lower intraoperative and postoperative morbidity and shorter hospital stay after the procedure, compared to the cold knife excision of the cone and suturing the remaining part of the uterine cervix. We plan to include in a prospective randomized study 360 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and to perform loop diathermy conization in a half of them. In the remaining half of the patients classical conization technique with cold knife excision and suturing of the remaining part of the uterine cervix will be performed. We will try to find out if any difference exist between both groups of patients regarding the completeness of removal of the neoplastic process, in the frequency of early and late complications, in the length of hospital stay as well as in the frequency of additional surgical procedures needed to be performed during the entire treatment process. The adequate postoperative follow-up examinations in the sense of long term health control of the study patients will be provided.
