Abstract
The model for quality production, evaluation and processing of medicinal plants in Slovenia is planned to be studied in sage (Salvia officinalis L.). The project objective is to assure the scientific background for development of methodological approaches in cultivation of medicinal plants, in their processing to herbal remedies and in quality control of raw materials or final herbal medicinal products. Therefore, implementation of the latest scientific knowledge on each of the target areas of the project is anticipated. The study is based on the codes of Good agricultural practice (GAP) and of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). At the same time the study represents the basis for future development of prosperous agrosystems for medicinal plants in Slovenia and for development of high quality herbal medicinal preparations. The relational database MEDPLANT is foreseen for governing the ecological-technological parameters in the cultivation target area and appropriate pharmaceutical- technological parameters in the processing of raw materials in the direction of optimisation of the quality.
