Abstract
The aim of research program is the study of human movement in space and time in terms of high performance sport, modeling athletes process of preparation with adequate measurement procedures and technologies. Kinesiology has task to create new relevant information and use it in athletes training process according to athletes age, gender, and sport performance level. Sport exercise is a complex process that requires an interdisciplinary study of morphological, motor, biomechanical, neuromuscular, functional and psychosocial parameters and their interactions. We will research sport technique biomechanical structures based on 3-D kinematics, kinetics, electromyography and isokinetics in selected sports. We have developed a new method of 3-D human motion in field conditions based on Global Navigation System (GNSS) and Inertial Systems (MVN), which allows us to monitor energy consumption in alpine skiing and we will continue to upgrade knowledge in this field. We studied the functioning several axis knee prosthesis that is specially adapted to the alpine skiing conditions. This will permit the optimization of the individual ski technique for disabled persons. In collaboration with the Neurological Clinic of the University Medical Centre we have used transcranial ultra sound doppler method (TCD) and analyzed evoked cerebral blood flow at maximum isometric force with elite athletes and non athletes. Running is the most popular recreational exercise for the maintenance of health and vital functions such as human blood circulatory and respiratory system. Based on measurements of functional parameters in laboratory and field conditions we will prepare protocols of aerobic exercise, which will be adapted to the individual abilities and age categories of people. Sport and high performance sport in particular is undoubtedly an extremely important in shaping national identity. We will explore the relationship between sport and national identity in the light of social, political and economic realities in the country and the world.
Significance for science
The results of the research program will contribute to the development of sports science in the field of sports training, sports biomechanics, sports medicine, motor control and learning, expert modeling, new diagnostic procedures and technologies. Slovenia through sports science can continue with the trend of development of sport in all its forms and at the same time maintaining excellent results of athletes. The group was developed mainly applied science or basic science with a direct connection with solving the real technology and methodology training processes problems and increasing the efficiency of methods and means in terms of performance and humanization of work in sport. Exploring program group was take place in the research environment of the Institute of Kinesiology and the Institute of Sport within Faculty of Sport and laboratories that meet the highest international technological and research standards. Part of research was carried out in interdisciplinary cooperation with some domestic and foreign institutions (Jozef Stefan Institute, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Mid Sweden University, the Swedish Winter Sports Research Centre and Oestersund, Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, University of Middlesex, Faculty of Kinesiology and the Zagreb Faculty of Kinesiology Split). We are opening completely new areas of research of the real movement in relation with optimization and energy consumption, integrating the objectification of sport movements and functional loading of the locomotor system. The research was based on the implementation of new knowledge and technologies in sports practice both in competitive sport, sport for health, as well as in school sports. Based on the results obtained, we believe that it will raise the quality level of professional athlete and athletes of younger age categories. Indirectly, this will result in higher social recognition and value of their results. In particular, outstanding achievements of athletes, in addition to financial - economic value of the high social, ethical and moral value for the visibility of the country and the development of its sports culture.
Significance for the country
Today sport activity plays important component of human life. Sport has an increasingly important economic, tourism, and health promotion role. Slovenian athletes are important ambassadors of the Slovenian state. Their results in the international arena have enormous power in shaping national identity (Doupona, Topic, 2010). It is important to the young children to start and to continue with sport activities. Without the cooperation of the economy there would not be such results in high performance and recreational sport. The share of the sport related economic products (services and products) is growing. Sports activities are becoming one of the most promising branches of the economic process in the future development of humanity. Therefore, the integration of program group in the economic and socio-economic development is one of its priorities. The effects of program group reserch will be: advisory work in the process of preparation of athletes, the quality of education at the undergraduate and postgraduate Bologna process, the development of new diagnostic methods and a training technologies, the development of sports products (ELAN - ski vibratory characteristics, ENSICO-didactic, sports equipment), the development and use of prosthetic resources in sport (ski PATELLAR prosthesis), sports and recreation programs that improve quality of life and the work efficiency, human health, construction of safe skiing polygons, the impact of wide skis on safety in alpine skiing, the use of methods of muscles and bones overload, ski jumpers expert system "Sport manager." Cooperation with international sport federations: FIG - International Gymnastics Federation (gymnastics development tools, measurement characteristics of the judgeing in real time, teaching materials in the FIG Academy, patented a device for measuring the speed and duration of springboard), FIBA - International Basketball Federation (tests for young basketball players).
