Water areas are rich with natural and cultural heritage which should be maintained and developed sustainable while water and aquatic ecosystems are essential for living. Contemporaneously are water areas with all natural and cultural heritage subject to industrial, agricultural, tourism or any other branch of economic development. From that aspect should be considered and developed a model how to include water areas more actively in vocational environmental education to provide sustainable economic development. In a project is proposed a model of vocational education and training along water trails. The model consists from three phases: 1. study of specific water area (every partner chooses in his country actual water area and studies its natural and cultural heritage as well as possible economic impacts), 2. establishment and equipment of educational water trail in order to raise the knowledge, environmental awareness and build active citizenship (every partner establishes educational water trail and equip it with educational materials like textbook, workbook and few educational boards/signs) and 3. dissemination and use of results, experiences and products (every partner proposes or implements integration of education along water trails into VET and makes known wider lifelong learning community with new model). The result will be common model of vocational education and training about natural and cultural heritage in water areas in order to contribute to sustainable economic development.
