Abstract
On the basis of the Project No. 142054 results and on extensive literature survey (SciFinder), the scope of the proposed research related to plants and lichens would encompass the following items: the optimization of the conditions for distillation and extraction preparation, determination of qualitative and quantitative composition of obtained distillates and extracts, investigation of compositional changes induced during plant material and extracts storage, monitoring of changes in composition occurred as a result of different phenological phases in proceeded plants, isolation of some essential oils’ or extracts’ constituents by means of chromatographic methods, structural determination of isolated compounds by means of spectroscopic methods, antimicrobial, antioxidant, citotoxicity and antiviral bioassays of extracts, essential oils, and isolated compounds, chemical modification of the constituents that have shown pronounced biological activity, testing the activity of modified compounds, the possibility of application of the results obtained in chemotaxonomy using multivariate statistical analysis, encapsulation of the most effective constituents by cyclodextrines and the possibility of application of the extracts or isolated compounds that exhibited pronounced activity in pharmaceutical, food, flavour and fragrance industry, as well as the industry of cosmetics.
