Abstract
Serbia’s accession to the European Union implies a large number of different conditions and dimensions, ranging from political to purely economic ones, including specifically the competitiveness of the national economy. There are also numerous factors that increase competitiveness on domestic and foreign markets but, in the operative sense, they can be roughly classified into three groups: the measures and activities of (1) the ?U, (2) Serbia and (3) enterprises themselves. The main idea of this project is that, insofar as the competitiveness of their goods and services is concerned, enterprises should exert themselves and do whatever they can, instead of finding excuses by pointing to a lack of support from the Serbian state and/or the EU, as well as other potential business partners and investors. Such efforts must take into account the enterprise’s level of organization and business efficiency, which depend decisively on its quality management system. Unfortunately, its quality is often far from being consistent with the fact that the enterprise has a QMS certificate. In that context, it is hard to overemphasize the importance of the mutual, individual and group contingencies of organizational macro-structure, business information system and quality management system.
