Description
IGMAT d.d., Institute for Building materials investigates asphalt, concrete, soils, waterproofing materials and their basic constituents ( aggregate, cement, bitumen, reinforcement iron, etc.) in its laboratories in Ljubljana, Slovenčeva 22 , as well as in various construction sites all over the country (pouring of concrete, asphalt paving, soil compaction, etc.).
The beginning of the Institute dates in 1948 as this laboratory was a constituent part of the greatest civil engineering company in Slovenia - SCT. Simultaneously with the development of SCT the laboratory developed too, till 1991, when it was established as a daughter-company of SCT, functioning as an independent organization. In 1998 it was transformed into a PLC company in the majority property of the employees.
The work is divided into four departments: geomechanics, concrete, asphalt, waterproofing.
The Institute employs 40 experts with sufficient formal education and long lasting experiences gained in Slovenia as well as abroad.
Main activities and tasks of laboratories are:
- certification of conformity of rock-aggregate fractions
- certification of conformity of bituminous sheets for waterproofing
- quality control of asphalts, concretes, soils, waterproofing materials in laboratory and on site
- investigation of watertightness and airtightness of sewage systems
- preparation of the documentation for the final takeovers
- preparation of programs and carrying out routine testing for conctractor's and investor's quality control of civil engineering works.
