Significance for the country
The fundamental research project possesses immediate scientific and expert relevancy; its economic value can, however, be established indirectly within the concpt of conteporanity of understanding and expression of freedom. Insofar as humanistic and – in part – sociological research is at stake, the realization of the project can have very tangible direct influence within the spheres of education, culture, society and politics, and partially also within certain branches of economy (internet technologies, conferences, trafic, hotel services) directly linked with the aforementioned spheres, although one cannot easily measure out the entire scope of its effects.   The results of the project could, by all means, directly contribute to the formation of a more appropriate environment for economic development (which is one of the main priorities of Slovenia and the EU), for the latter presupposes the parallel development and assurance of individual and social freedom, as well as the enforcement of democratic norms of social order and management.   This is in turn, of course, specifically true of the educational, the cultural and the media space, in relation to which the project directly stands. Members of the project group are active as teachers in environment of higher education, which is of great importance regarding the transference of knowledge. We would especially like to emphasize the scientific and cultural dissemination of interdisciplinary humanistic methodology and innovative research approaches in the study practice (student workshops).   Insofar as the project is dedicated to the expression of personal and social freedom, public appearances of members of the project group in the media (as professional journalists, editors, creators of public opinion, or creators of ideas) are also extremely important. The execution of the project can thus contribute to the broadening of media perception and discussion regarding some of the key dimensions of the actual social crisis.   Furthermore, an important aspect presents also the creation of information within the public discussion upon the basis of the study of archival sources. For the Slovenian and the European space the study of the past is of special relevance, for only in a multilayered understanding of historical events lies the possibility for responsible action and decision-making in the present.   Of special relevance are in this regard in the wider European horizon literary, artistic, cultural and intellectual testimonies that include the immediate expression of personal and social freedom. Acknowledging the value of personal expression is of universal meaning for the formation of European (inter)cultural communication.
