Abstract
In orthopaedic surgery we use acrylic bone cement for fixation of the artificial hips. There are significant problems associated with removal of the bone cement. The adherence of the bone cement to the bone makes it very difficult to remove. The bone might be fractured with attempt to remove the bone cement. We will be investigating using the lasers to remove the bone cement. We know from the absorption specter of water that the most usefull lasers for remove a bone cement would likely be impusive Ho-Yag (2100 nm), Erb-Yag (2940) or CO2. With the non contact technic we expect that the removale of the adherent bone cement will be much easier. We expect that Ho-Yag laser would be usefull by cartilage plastic, Erb-Yag and CO2 lasers would be usefull for bone cuting and one of these two will be probably usefull for removing the bone acrylic cement.
