Abstract
The research proposal will refer on genus Asparagus, more exactly ornamental asparagus. There are four species of Asparagus, which are indigenous in Slovenia: Asparagus tenuifolius, Asparagus officinalis, Asparagus acutifolius and Asparagus maritimus. Particularly Asparagus tenuifolius could be very interesting as an ornamental plant. The main goal of our work is to study their natural habitat in Slovenia and to investigate possibilities of its micropropagation with some new biotehnical methods and to find out what are the possibilities of cultivating some wild species of asparagus and using them in floriculture and ornamental gardening in Slovenia.
