Abstract
The aim of the project is to develop an automobile simulator enabling objective, reliable and repeatable assessment of those capabilities of persons with physical disabilities and of older persons which are needed for safely and reliably driving a car in road traffic. The mentioned capabilities could also be trained on the simularor for a longer period of time thus qualifying these persons for safe driving. Besides an adequate and accurate determination of the functional capabilities with the use of simulator the required modifications of the car for each person would be enabled. The simulator would also be used in perscribing powered wheelchairs. Namely we miss objective criteria for the evluation of driving capabilities for these wheelchairs in persons with a serious physical and mental disability.
