Significance for science
New Scientific Discoveries Through the development and testing of the new personality-based strat-up and growth model we contributed important new findings about impacts of personality factors on performance in terms of new firm formation and growth and consequentially competitiveness of firms and the national economy. In particular, we were able to determine, with a higher probability than ever before, which personality factor(s) are relatively more important (have higher impact in the model) than other factors. Improved Methodological Instruments By using structural equation modeling we achieved that our analyses was more complete than in past research, which has been in a large extent using multiple regression analysis or even more simple analytical techniques. In the research testing and development of constructs was also emphasized. Research Field Development The research study has extended the entrepreneurship research area in the part of entrepreneurial personality.
Significance for the country
By discovering regularities and nature of relationships between personality and strat-ups and growth of firms and consequentially at the overall economy level, this research provided findings and recommendations, which will have an important role in fostering competitiveness and economic growth. On one hand, it will contribute to formation of instruments and recommendations for improved analysis, management and acceleration of firm start-up activity. With this, we expect, our research will contribute to faster and somewhat less risky development of new firms, and help accelerate performance improvement in terms of growth and consequentialy competitiveness of Slovenian firms. Possible effects of this research on economic growth are not expected only in areas of entrepreneurial personality assessment, but also in other areas reached by this research (for example, improved entrepreneurship education may lower number and amount of entrepreneurial strat-up failures and increase growth). The research project is important for the promotion of the country abroad; this was accomplished by presentations and publications of research papers related to the project at international conferences and in international scientific journals. The project was relevant also for acquisition of new knowledge about entrepreneurial personality-related issues from research from various foreign countries. The research project fostered international research collaboration (for example, with researchers from Europe and the United States).
