Description
The College of Management, an independent state-funded higher education institution in Koper, was founded in December of 1995 by the Municipality of Koper, the Community of Piran, the Community of Izola and the Chamber of Economy (Unit Koper) in accordance with the Higher Education Act of the Republic of Slovenia. Undergraduate Students and Courses. The students can attend the courses either on a full-time or part-time basis. The full-time students attend all the lectures, seminars and workshops, as well as the compulsory business internship. In the academic year 1996/97, the College admitted 112 full-time students and 58 part-time students. In 1997/98 the number of full-time students at the school was about 230, while the newly enrolled part-time students increased their numbers to about 120. In the academic year 1998/99 the total number of students studying at the College was 753, of whom 343 were full-time and 410 part-time students, and in the academic year 1999/2000 there are 436 full-time and 855 part-time students. In addition to the first and second year courses, the College of Management offers part-time study programs for third-year students. These courses have been carried out not only in Koper, but also in Maribor and Škofja loka, involving over 180 part-time students. In the academic year 1998/99, the College opened a study centre in Nova Gorica, and another in Celje in the academic year 1999/2000. The lectures, seminars and workshops within the part-time program take into account the students' time out of their full-time employment. In this respect, the part-time courses have been reduced to a minimum of 30% of their regular duration.
