I work at the University of Primorska, at the Faculty of pedagogy as an Assoc. Prof. of the Slovenian language teaching courses. I obtained my PhD in Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Ljubljana, the Slovenian language Department, having defended the thesis entitled Story telling as a context of child's linguistic development from the ages 3 to 7.
I publish my scientific findings both in national and foreign scientific magazines. My focus is mainly on the research of the Slovenian language didactics and socio-linguistic isssues. Over the past years I have been primarily interested in issues connected to the development of linguistic competences (in first and second language). Especially relevant are my publications in which a socio-linguistic approach and didactic and methodic questions are combined with the language of the environment and literacy teaching in a second language, as well as publications where new didactic approaches to language teaching in pre-school and school age children are considered. I am currently actively exploring language and socio-linguistic aspects of a child's development, in particular the storytelling of preschool and school age children in a monolingual or plurilingual environment, the learning and teaching of the Slovenian language as a mother tongue, second and foreign language and the pre-literacy and literacy activities in a monolingual or plurilingual environment.
