Description
The University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences, is renowned for its quality, contemporary educational programs, and scientific research in the field of nursing and health sciences in both the Slovenian and international arenas. Established collaborations with prominent and recognized educational and research institutions, both domestic and foreign, enable the updating and development of undergraduate and postgraduate study programs in nursing and health sciences. UM FHS responds to the needs of society and the environment by updating study programs and, based on scientific research work with the inclusion of many domestic and internationally recognized visiting professors and clinical experts, ensuring the advancement of nursing and health sciences in Slovenia and beyond. We were the first in Slovenia to start preparing and implementing second-degree study programs, study orientations in the second-degree Nursing Care study program, and implementing the third-degree Nursing Care study program. We were also the first in Slovenia to develop a model and new advanced nursing practice (Advanced Nursing Practice) study orientations in the second-degree Nursing Care study program. We provide students with up-to-date knowledge based on international scientific research and professional work. This enables them to successfully integrate into future work environments in Slovenia and internationally. We ensure high-quality education by involving interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and interprofessional teams for autonomous comprehensive patient care according to acquired competencies and promoting the development of equal partnership relationships in practice. In the field of educational and scientific research work, we actively cooperate with other members of the University of Maribor, related faculties, and health institutions at the national level, as well as with numerous prestigious and renowned educational, research, and clinical institutions abroad. A very strong link between practice and education is represented by research, which contributes to the recognizable societal development of the discipline of nursing and health sciences, demonstrating social responsibility as one of the key tools for achieving the sustainable development of the faculty.
