Abstract
The project deals with issues relevant to the creation of the curriculum for the first three years of elementary school. It will define the aims, the content and the methods that apply to the early stages of schooling. It will rely on the theoretical premises of the youth literature, aestetic perception and on the knowledge of young readers. Within the framework of the latter, it will focus on the stages of reading development of the receptive ability of children aged from five to six years, i.e. in the period of transition from the pre-operative to the operative stage of development.
