Abstract
The research program »Markets, Competitiveness and Entrepreneurship« is focused on the analyses of (1) markets and competitiveness and (2) Entrepreneurship.
The research on markets and competitiveness is concentrated on the analysis of: market structure, entry and exit of firms, mergers and acquisitions, allocative and X-efficiency, policies and instrument for attaining competitive advantages, deregulation/regulation of state enterprises, technology and innovations, networking, the role of the state i.e. industrial policy or policy for enterprise development and competitiveness for attaining high economic growth, the effect of accession on the competitiveness of the economy, harmonization of the policy of competition and industrial policy to the EU principals, and the impact of concentration and globalization on social welfare. Theoretical frameworks of this research are the theory of industrial organization, oligopoly theory and game theory.
Research in the area of Entrepreneurship addresses the following issues: the role of Entrepreneurship in economic – national and regional - development, the conditions for entrepreneurship development, support infrastructure for entrepreneurship, international comparison of the state of entrepreneurship and its impact on economic growth, policy conducive to entrepreneurship, rural entrepreneurship, harmonization of legal structure for entrepreneurship with EU, integration of the national statistics on SMEs into EU statistics, entrepreneurship education and training, financing of start ups, intrapreneurship, theory of entrepreneurship, and development of data base on SMEs. Theoretical frameworks of this research are the theory of entrepreneurship and the new theory on economic growth.
