Significance for science
The work of our research group connects different interdisciplinary scientific fields in the range of the impact of corporate governance, organizational learning, and knowledge management on modern organizations. Management and organization and focuses on modern concepts of management. Scientific attribution is based on the latest findings of our own and foreign theoretical and empirical research in the field of organizational learning, knowledge management, innovation, knowledge network, culture of learning, authentic leadership, quality management, age management etc. Our work improves the above mentioned field of research through publications in journals SCI/SSCI rang. Members of the group are regular presenters at international scientific conferences and publish original scientific articles and monografies. The programme contributes to the development of science in the following fields: (1) development of empirical findings in the fields of strategic governance of organizations, (2) organizational learning and knowledge management as a means of gaining competitive advantages of organizations, (3) the development and strengthening of an understanding of a long-lived society and age management, (4) the development of knowledge regarding the means of strengthening human resources and their competences as the key factors for the economic, social, and cultural development of countries, (5) the popularisation and promotion of scientific findings in expert and media environments, (6) the creation, mobilisation and spreading of scientific findings into the international sphere, (7) the development of interdisciplinary study approaches in the framework of the tripartite system science-economy-the wider society, (8) the strengthening, development, and connecting of research potentials, and joining such within the national and regional frameworks into knowledge centres, (9) increased plurality in the field of research programmes, and (10) increasing the quality of research activity in Slovenia through interconnectedness in the regional and global research space and the the increased recognisability and identity of Slovene research activity in the global scientific field.
Significance for the country
Our findings contribute to the development and improvement of the impact of corporate governance, organizational learning, and knowledge management on modern organizations in Slovenia and internationally. Findings contribute to the quality improvement and improvement of HRM with the main concern to all generations of employees in the light of aging of Slovene population that is of importance to both private and public sector. At the same time, the publications of our research group raise the level of knowledge and competence at the level of individuals and overall in Slovenian business environment in the fields of authentic behavior, organizational learning, knowledge network, age management, quality management and innovation with the goal of achieving dynamic and competitive economy based on knowledge. Research findings of our research group directly strengthen the research effort of Slovenia and shape the research capacity in the field of corporate governance, organizational learning, and knowledge management in Slovenia. We estimate that presented scientific accomplishments directly influence the development of Slovenia in the sense of organizational learning, knowledge management and dealing with demographic changes and can be transformed into new products, processes and services within public and private sector of Slovenia with the main goal of achieving long-term balance between business progress and stable welfare state. The purpose of all our research and activities is therefore to build competitive advantage of individuals, Slovene businesses and state of Slovenia - based on knowledge about the impact of corporate governance, organizational learning, and knowledge management on modern organizations in Slovenia. Many research activities of the research group were directly connected with the with the hierarchy of the developmental objectives of Slovenia and the European Union, concretely to the three fundamental developmental priorities from Slovenia's Development Strategy: (1) the first development priority: A competitive economy and faster economic growth, (2) the second development priority: the effective generation of the two-way flow and use of knowledge for economic development and quality jobs, (3) the fourth development priority: a modern social state and higher employment. The results of the program research activities are noticeable in the strengthening of control over progress-making capacity, general socio-economic progress, and the capacity of national competitiveness in the global environment with the objective of sustainable economic development. Furthermore, the results of the program are noticeable in the generation of new knowledge and discoveries, which have been transferred into an internationally accessible knowledge stock and economic use in order to increase the social welfare. The program research activities and results of projects have also effect on an increase in the absorption capacity of companies and their workforce to the transfer and use of new knowledge, technologies, and innovations from the world's leading environments in the practice of Slovene organizations. The indirect effect of the research program is also of importance for the strengthening of the national identity in the global knowledge-based economy and preserving the treasures of the natural and cultural heritage within European and the global knowledge stock.
