Dr. Ana Slavec is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Information Technologies at the University of Primorska, and a research associate at the InnoRenew CoE, where one of her roles is to consult researchers on topics related to open science, data collection, management, analysis, and reporting. She holds a BSc in Sociology – Social Informatics and a Ph.D. in Statistics, both from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana, where she has been employed as a research assistant at the Centre for Social Informatics and later at the Social Science Data Archives. Her dissertation focused on improving survey question wording using language resources. During her studies, she started writing and co-editing a blog that was awarded the prize for excellence in statistical reporting. At the InnoRenew CoE, she has been the principal investigator for two projects financed by the Slovenian Research Agency: the postdoctoral project “Using questionnaires to measure attitudes and behaviours of building users” and the bilateral project “Innovation activities of Austrian and Slovenian companies in the wood-value chain”. Her research focuses on the use of survey methods in sustainable building research. In addition, she is interested in open science and research data management. She is a member of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) and their ambassador for Engineering/Renewable Materials. In the past, she was also the coordinator of the Open Science Working Group at the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc) and a member of the European Open Science Cloud FAIR Working Group. Currently, she is the president of the Slovenian Open Science Community (SSOZ) and a member of the Open Science Working Group of the Slovenian Research Agency.
