Biography
Roman Globokar (born in 1971) studied theology at the University of Ljubljana and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome where he received a licentiate (1998) and a doctorate (2001). He is an assistant professor of Theological Ethics at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana. From 2006 to 2018 he was director of St. Stanislav's Institution, the biggest Catholic school in Slovenia. From 2005 he is a member of the National Medical Ethics Committee and from 2011 he participates at the National Experts Council for General Education. He is a member of the board of the Association of Bioethicists in Central Europe and of Societas Ethica. He was a co-chair of the European Regional Committee and a member of the planning committee of Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church (2013-2018). He holds courses in the field of theological ethics (fundamental moral theology, bioethics, and social ethics). He is the coordinator of the International Office at the Faculty of Theology (Erasmus+, CEEPUS ...). He organised and coordinated international conferences on Ethics and Education. He was a guest lecturer at the Universities of Vienna, Graz and Opole and at the Theological High School in Pécs. He was also visiting fellow at Boston College, USA (January-March 2015), at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland (March-June 2018), and at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Erfurt, Germany (June-July 2019). He is the leader of the Slovenian team of researchers in the European projects Integrity (2019-2021) and Educate to build resilience (2019-2021). He has published several articles on fundamental theological ethics, bioethical topics, ecological ethics, the mission of the Catholic school and educational issues in general. In 2013, he published in Slovenian a book Theological Ethics between Universalism and Particularism, and in 2019, a book entitled Educational School Challenges in the Digital Age.
