Preclinical investigation of bioactive substances

Preclinical studies have substantial role in synthesis, development and examination of bioactive substances (BAS), potential medications. The aim of the project is development of the multidisciplinary research aspect in the field of biomedical sciences with the accent on synthesis, isolation, preclinical BAS testing and application of molecular markers in patients’ therapy in accordance with market economy demands. Planed research would encompass few segments: (1) Design, isolation, synthesis and structural characterization of natural and synthetic bioactive compounds, (2) BAS biological effects and action mechanisms defining; (2a) Natural BAS antimicrobial effects monitoring; (2b) Significance determination of physiological, genetic, molecular-biological and tumor markers in the estimation of BAS effects and forecast of human pathological states; (3) Defining the role of certain biomarkers and BAS in preclinical and clinical testing of patients with malignant tumors; (4) Informatics support and results statistical processing; (5) Research management and marketing as support for interdisciplinary projects realization; (6) Partnership establishment with pharmaceutical companies (participants), examination of BAS action mechanisms and effects. Project activities and planed researches realization would result in functional network for biomedical preclinical examinations of BAS with innovative application in preventive, prediction, diagnostics and therapy of human population.
