Abstract
The effect of maize genotype and the effect of ensiling on the ruminal starch and protein digestion will be investigated. Grain samples of four hybrids, collected at three maturities and stored frozen, dried or ensiled will be treated. It is expected that natural variability between dent and flint type hybrids can be used to manipulate the site of starch and protein digestion. Possible differences between genotypes, maturities and storing procedures can affect the utilization of energy and protein in ruminants.
