Abstract
Soil quality is important for sustainable food production and for environment protection. Evidentation, preservation, and improvement of soil quality is therefore important. Using already existing pedological data, the state of Slovenian soils will be evaluated and sensitive areas identified. Soil degradation processes will be studied based on a model, and an attempt to distinguish natural from antrophogenic influences will be made. The climate effected soil properties will be studied for paleoclimatic reconstruction and for evaluation of influence of future climate changes on soil properties.
